Question Heat range of spark plug

Can someone explain to me what a heat range is on a spark plug, I know about fuel air ratio's and how compression is made when the plug fires. I use R43 TSK plugs can someone tell me its heat range or show me where to find a site explaining it?

Thanks
-paul

One Google for "spark plug heat range" came up with about 532,000 results. Almost every one of the first 10 or so explained what "heat range" is.

Heat range refers to how well a spark plug disipates heat into the cylinder head. A higher heat range means that the spark plug is slower to dispate heat and therefore remains hotter. This was good for an older engine that was oil fouling plugs, going to a hotter plug could help burn off the oil and prevent fouling. I wouldn't really go playing around with heat ranges in our newer cars.

Re: Heat range of spark plug

its not nessesary to run hotter plugs in a vehicle unless like stated above or you need them because of other modifications.

No doubt about it. Hi heat + aluminum cylinder heads = stripped plug hole threads.
