Cdl

I have a qquestion about CDL's. My friend and I are going into business with each other and starting an excavating business. He has a 1977 C60 Chevy dumptruck ( 23,000lbs) and a Ford 555 Bucket loader. I beleive that when driving the dump truck you do NOT need a CDL. When I hook a trailer up to this truck though, to pull the Bucket loader, would I need a CDL?
If so, what type?
Any light shed on this would be great!
Thanks,
John

Re: Cdl

If it's under 26,000 GVW you don't need a CDL

I realize this, but does GVW mean the trailer also and the contents of the trailer?
