not to be towed!!!

Does anyone know how to avoid towing. I heard they actually break into the car (they do open the hood). Befor that I though that they just would pick the rear wheels of a camaro, but how about the steering wheel lock and all that sfuff. What if I park the rear of the car to the wall, block the steering wheel with a club, and fix the shifter the way that it doesnt move? Would they be able to somehow pull the car out with the wheels blocked or use some sorta dolly for the rear? Any tricks to avoid that? I rarely see later model cars getting towed (mostly old, simple to break in cars)

Re: not to be towed!!!

i've always found the best way to keep my car from being towed is to make all the payments, on time too.

Re: not to be towed!!!

If its a flat bed then theyll just drag the car up onto it. You can set your brake, fix your gear turn your wheel or whatever and it wont do any good. There are some very clever techniques that tow companies use to get cars out of tight spaces.

Re: not to be towed!!!

lol, you could always register a fake company name and claim you are a towing / repo service and sign up for like towing / repo books and you can order your self a boot, they cost about 350 bucks a peice but you arent going anywhere with one of those on your ride.

Re: not to be towed!!!

Just in case. I work and park a lot in downtown and i see people getting towed evryday and their cars get scratched up all over. I think that some day it might happen to me and I can imagine the front bumper being dragged and flipped on the road (the car is lowered, has fresh paint), while they (tow truck drivers) are not even responsible for the damage (hard to prove anything), which means i will have to pay some deductable fees to my insurance company or fix myself. Rather get a ticket than a molested car.I know that they usualy pick on older less expensive cars. Does anyone know the whole procedure how they tow cars?

I am not worried about the repo people since everything is paid for. They can steal it back anyway.

Re: not to be towed!!!

um how botu this, park in legal spots / keep the meter fed or get a monthly parking pass from teh town / pay off any tickets you get immediately

If you wanna try and go against The Man and be a rebel lol... if its not a flatbed then you want the front wheels dragging unless you don't care about your tranny and rear getting f'd up

Re: not to be towed!!!

yes, dont want this ^^^^^^^^ i park in half legal spaces because on fridays and thursdays there is no parking /almost impossible to find because its free after 8pm. I start at 9pm. Iam trying to be creative so I can fight off almost any ticket in court, but there still will be damage to the car.

Any useful advice (beside being a good boy and riding a bike) ??

Well then park at like a pretty far spot then have like a unicycle in the trunk and cycle your way to work.. no more problems about having to worry about being towed and I didnt say you should ride a bicycle
