Engine Code Problem

Was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what the engine code "auxiliary emissions contol" means? What needs to get fixed to clear this code? Its a 96' v6 coupe. She runs just fine and I've cleared the code several times but it keeps coming back. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Engine Code Problem

It is a P1406-"Auxiliary Emissions Control" punch into the software and an "EGR pintal circut" comes up. Not too sure what a pintal circut is. Should I just try replacing EGR? Is this a common thing? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Engine Code Problem

The CEL bulb has been pulled out, in my toolbox, for a few years now. I just read periodically w/ code reader to see how she's doing. $135 for new EGR. Don't quite want to do that yet, gonna try to push the old ones buttons first. Just nailed a cyl. 4 misfire to the coilpack last week.
