Digital HVAC controls - variable speed fan doesn't work after burning smell
Hello everyone.
I'm hoping maybe you can help me out here. I have the digital insturment cluster on my grand marquis and right after I got it in august the dial that controls the blower fan speed quit working. You either had to have it going full blast, or not going at all. Well yesterday it randomly just kicked in while driving down the highway. My reaction was sweeeeeeeeetness it works again. Tonight I was driving home around 4 am from my girlfriends and the heater shut off and I noticed a strong burning smell. It smelt like what happens when a power supply or a cpu kicks the bucket. The traditional 'crap... that smells like burning silicon chip' smell lol. So I threw on my four ways and pulled over real quick just to make sure there wasnt anything melting or on fire under the dash. Everything was alright, but now that feature isn't working again, only high speed or nothing. Does anybody know what this could be? Hopefully not the blower switch because I heard that costs a pretty penny or two. Thanks guys! - Josh P.S. I found that self diagnostic test thing somewhere else in the forum and I did it. I get code 125 - intermitten vehicle speed signal. What does that mean?

The blower motor speed control is probably toast. It's mounted to the evaporator housing under the heater hoses.

Turns out my blower motor resistor is toast... literally lol. Replacing it, should work better
