Northern Hospiatality
You know what? Some people up here rock. One time I locked my keys in my car at Home Depot and my mom wasnt going to be home for like an hour to get my spare keys to me. So Mike and I go into Home Depot and get like a 1/8" brass rod and tried to jimmy my locks open. Well after screwing around with it for a while some guy comes and helps us for like a half an hour! We never got it done, but when I offered him a few dollars for his trouble, he wouldnt take it!
So today I was going to pick up another friend Anthony and I went down the wrong road and I was turning around. Well the shoulder of the road wasnt a shoulder at all, just the ditch level with the road because the snow was like 3 feet deep. So I get stuck and call Anthony to come help me. Well, We dug down to the dirt and couldnt get out. Well, I was hung up on the underside of the car! My car was a teeter totter on the side of the road! Well, it wasnt a busy street and of the 4 cars that drove by, 3 stopped to help. The first guy with a truck tried to help me tow it out but he didnt have a hook, just a heavy duty strap that we tried to wrap around the axle. Yeah, that didnt work at all. Again, I offer him a few bucks for his time and effort, and he wouldnt take it. So this next guy comes with a hook that we put in a hole on part of the "frame" (yeah yeah unibody fuckedy fuck, I dont know many terms in cars ) Well, he just pulls me out and before I could even get out of my car we was almost gone. Sure enough, he wouldnt take any money or for that matter even any praise! He basically shook my hand and left, but none of those guys would let me help them out a little. Isnt it kind of customary to give a helper a couple dollars for their trouble? I just thought it was really cool to have some many people to help when I fuck up!

Re: Northern Hospiatality
When i have helped pull people out of whatever they are stuck in generally i only make them pay if i really need gas. Which is pretty much never. I think its fun pulling people out of stuff or helping out with things like that. Its all about karma.

Re: Northern Hospiatality
You don't find that very often in Ohio. We just get a bunch of people that like to stop and stare or drive by a thousand times and just look at you funny... I've stopped many times to help people out. Sometimes they are very nice and appreciative, others are complete dicks.
One time I was behind a flatbed truck and some lady turned into her driveway in front of him and he slammed into the side of this Jeep Cherokee. Man alive, that Jeep split in half and spun around into her drive and the truck nailed a telephone pole. I yanked the Firebird into her yard and ran over expecting to find her dead... Nope, she came crawling out of that thing terrified and she was very appreciative of somebody pulling over to help. Ehh, just thought that story was kind of on topic. lol

Re: Northern Hospiatality
had the same thing happen to me. I went up to an observatory in the moutains with my gf and they parked me on the side of the road, on a ditch on stones. So when I hit the gas to try to wiggle out I either
a) slide into the ditch more b) threw stones with my tires at my gf who was telling me how far to back up. 2 guys came down as they were leaving stopped asked if they could help said they would push while I drove. I was so glad they helped or I would have been there forever. Said thanks they said not a problem glad they could help and then went on their way. Northerners are generally nice people. I say generally because occassionally people from jersey roam up here *ducks flying objects* I kid... I kid....

Re: Northern Hospiatality
SO TRUE, the word "North" and "hospitality" do not belong in the same sentence. Living and growing up in NYC for 16 yrs (im 18 now) you are subjected to some real TRUE A-HOLES. Dont get me wrong, there are nice people everywhere, but being in NYC, from one point, it is dangerous to help someone, they can just fake a problem and then rape you (if you are a girl) I might be exaggerating, but I have seen some crazy shit.
Down here in the south (live in SC now), people go seriously out of there way to help. For example, i have been walking around, dong some exercise, and people will pull over and ask if I need a lift. The South is great, it is like one big vacation to live down here!
