What is common between the front wipers and rear wiper???
Hey guys, I just recently have developed a problem with my 98 Jimmy SLS. At COMPLETELY random times the front wiper will just not work, no noises, nothing. It did this a week ago and after a while they just started working fine again. So I thought it was just ice jamming them up...
Well on the way home from a friends cabin (130mi from town) the wipers were working fine and then about an hour later I tried them and sure enough nothing happens. Whenever this "random" stoppage happens the rear wiper won't work either. So both of them die off at once. No fuses are blown either. What common part do the rear and front wipers share that might cause this type of problem? Is there a relay or module they both use? I just would assume it's a shared component since it's unlikely that both ends would die at the exact same time each time. Thanks. |

Re: What is common between the front wipers and rear wiper???
I had a similar problem with another car I used to own, turned out to be the wiper motor. Funny thing was almost always when it wasnt raining it worked fine... It took about an hour and a half to change using a motor I bought from a junkyard online (saved money) and worked great.

UPDATE: The rear wiper is working fine (sarcastic yay) and the front continues to do nothing. The fuse is fine and I can't find a wiper module anywhere other than being listed as with the motor so I guess the motor and module are one in the same. This really sucks since it's actually dangerous to drive (it's snowing and sleeting right now to boot) and it's now the weekend so I can't even get parts...assuming it's even the motor that's the problem, I'd hate to pull it out just to find out it's fine. |
