Heating and Air Control Light OUT
2000 Jetta GLS 1.8T. For the past year, the light that lights the heating and air controls has been going off and on. I'll usually just give it a tap on the side and it comes back on. Last night it wouldn't come back on. Now I've got to replace the bulb or chk the wiring. How do I get to that? Has anybody had this problem before?

Re: Heating and Air Control Light OUT
you can try bending the tabs for the bulb out a little, but if that doesnt work you will need a new climate controls unit. usually the springs get weak and can not push hard enough against the bulb to make good contacts..

Re: Re: Re: Heating and Air Control Light OUT
take a pliers with a thick rag on the end and pull straight out the center fan speed switch. there is a little light in there (use a small vacuum hose 1/4" size ) and push on the bulb and it should hold the bulb and pull it out. get another bulb and loosely push it into the hose. push into the socket and turn clockwise and pull out at the same time. check and see if the lights work now. if it doesnt you need to remove the bulb again and use a very small flathead screwdriver and bend the tabs out a little on the socket.

Thanks buddy. I'll give it a try and hope I don't break anything. I appreciate it.
