1993 pontiac grand am

engine light comes on , then it surges at stop signs this happens when temp. reaches 220 also while i'm driving at a steady speed it loses power for a fraction of a second and then resumes driving normaly. We changed the oil and the idle air control valve. It didn't helpany one have any ideas. i was thinking maybe it was throtle control sensor, and or crank saft sensor or maybe fuel pump, fuel regulator,or the fuel filter.

That code means that the percieved idle speed that the pcm commanded was out of range by 175 rpms, so any issue that caused the engine to run poorly at idle could cause this as the iac could not compensate. Stuck egr, severe misfire and so on need to be checked, also try and post engine size when asking for help. Yhis would save asking these questions. You need a full scan to check all the operating parameters for any problems.

Re: 1993 pontiac grand am

Welcome leggy 2000,
that white stuff is oilpan is water/moisture. May hav a blown head gasket, that'll make it run badly. And that white stuff will kill you engines bearings real fast!
If you hear the fuel pump run when the keys on, then I'd say its ok, Being a 93 the TPS could be bad but it should throw a differnt code for that. Try unpluging the TPS and see if it starts and runs better, if it does then the TPS is bad. Good Luck
