Does anyone out there know specifics about the factory stereo for a 1994 Grand Am SE? I'm wanting a factory AM/FM stereo with in-dash CD. I have found plenty of GM CD stereos for appx. $100-$150 online, and in junkyards.
However, I'm told that for this particular year Grand Am, I have to get a model/year specific stereo, and these don't seem to be plentiful, or always cost a lot more. Does someone know if the CD player from other mid-90's GM cars will fit, and mount up properly? Would the cd from, say, a '95 Grand Prix, or a "94 Beretta work? Thanks in advance for serious replies. |

Re: 94 Grand Am factory CD player?
you'd prob be better off just buying a new unit with new wires to all the speakers. Would probley be cheaper and sound much much better! Just my

I've considered it, but I prefer to keep things stock. That's why I haven't done anything about it yet...... |

Re: 94 Grand Am factory CD player?
Most stock stereos are big, so I'd think most of the 93-95 Grand Ams would work. THe plugs on the back may be different, but I'm pretty damn sure you can buy plug adapters at you local Best Buy or any of those places that sell and install stereos.
But I think $100-150 is way to much for anything out of a junk yard, check around though, theirs tons on GM cars out there and I'm positive several will work for your GA.

My '94 GT came with a tape player... I replaced it when I got it in 2000 with a non-stock tape player.
To answer your poll questions (it only took one answer), yes, my power window regulators had to be replaced a couple years ago, and the pins for the tilt steering column came loose this past summer. |
