Grand Cherokee cutting off when stopped
Hey guy's and gal's i have a 99 grand cherokee limited with the 4.7
When you come to a stop sign or stop light it will sometimes cut off but it will start right back up. I have replaced plugs, fuel filter ,throttle position sensor ,idle speed motor, and unhooked the battery to reset the computer after new installs. This has been going on for several months it seems to be getting worse in the last week now doing it 3-5 times daily. The battery checks out good and no codes in the system. any other ideas please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Grand Cherokee cutting off when stopped
Could it be something as simple as a loose (or corroded) wire or batter terminal? There are plenty of sensors that could go bad (including the Crankshaft Position Sensor), but if it only happens when you're standing still, I don't know that it would be the CPS. If you're willing to give it a try, that's one culprit when the Jeeps are stalling. Wires to check would include the cable going from the battery to the ground, battery to the starter, and any fuses.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes. |

Re: Grand Cherokee cutting off when stopped
This happened to me (Jeep cutting off) and it ended up being a dead cell in the battery. The battery in it when I got it was a Walmart special and of course they said there was nothing wrong with it. Anyway I bough a Diehard Gold and the problem disappeared. Don't know if this is your problem but I'm saying even if the battery appears to be good it could still be the culprit.
