Hissing sound from HVAC

92 s'10 4.3

When I move the HVAC control to the off position I get a hissing sound until I move it up just a bit and it stops.

Thoughts?

Re: Hissing sound from HVAC

Dried out control knob seals. They are packed with silicone grease at the factory to keep them limber and vacuum tight. Some folks get some luck by taking them out of the dash, gently disassembling them and giving them a fresh squirt of silicone based grease. If it breaks, it's no big deal - you can have the HVAC rotory knob from most places for around $25 or so.
