Rear Brakes
As all of you know...or should know...sunfires and cavaliers have drums for back brakes.
Now my question is, if anyone knows, would it be possible for me to take the front brakes from a sunfire and swap the drums for those? So that the rear brakes are discs and calipers instead of drums? Is this possible? Maybe not with the same brakes from the front, but is this somehow possible to do? or is it alot more work then just taking the drums off and putting the new ones in? IF anyone can help out with this subject, it would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Jay_Ef |

Re: Rear Brakes
It is possible to change the system to put discs on the rear but it will be time consuming and expensive. You will need brakes specifically for the rear of the vehicle, front brakes are not designed to be used on the rear end and they will not work correctly. I recommend that you stick with the drum brakes.

Re: Rear Brakes
If you have the original brake drums and they have never been turned down they can be turned for around $12 each depending on where you live. The shoes will cost between $20 and $40 depending on which ones you buy. If you get a manual you should be able to change and adjust them yourself in a couple of hours. Total cost less than $75 plus your time. If you want the disc setup it will cost you a whole lot more than $75.
