Re: drinking it up
you need to describe what's happening....are you getting CEL's (check engine lights)....is the car leaking gas by chance?? What model Civic?? Is there a cloud of black smoke behind you occassionally...have you checked the plugs to see if they're black....???
Do some of that and let us know.... I came into this post thinking "chug chug chug" .....its going to be nice to have a break from college....

drinking it up
i have changed all the spark plugs and wires. no check engine light has came on. not even sure it that light works. lol. there is no black smoke. no gas leaks. when you start to go it feels like it wasnt to die instead of going. you can here it loudly the put putting noise it makes. kinda sounds like a go cart. not really sure how else to explain it. its a 92 honda civic dx with a 1.5 liter.

could you also say its a tapping noise? ITS NOT A TAPPING NOISE. YOU KNOW THOSE REAGGDY CARS YOU SEE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THAT ARE JUST LOUD BECAUSE THEY ARE OLD AND NO ONE TOOK CARE OF THEM. IT SOUNDS LIKE ON OF THOSE. HAHA IT DOESNT DO IT INTILL YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. |

Re: drinking it up
convert eating gas into miles per gallon. the gas is going somewhere. if its in the combustion chamber, your plugs will tell you and so will your exhaust. if thats not where its going, then, its leaking elsewhere.
by the vagueness of the description, id say, check compression, ignition timing, vac test, and follow up with scheduled maintenence.

Re: drinking it up
get new fuel injectors or better plugs, better plug wires, better spark plugs.......there are lots of things you could do!

in car repair is that you should never assume anything without a verifiable cause. Like superbluecivicsi says, check miles per gallon usage. Are we talking 10 mpg, 20 mpg? Considering the car is more than 10 years old, if you get combined mileage of 23 or more, I would think it is doing really well actually. Let say it is below 20 mpg level, then you might have some issue. Anyways, did this put putting started to happen right after spark plug change? If so I bet my bottom dollar that you either have gap the plug(s) wrong, or one of the plug wire is loose. You could have simply hit the plug on the block while inserting that might have caused the electrodes to bend. Check that first and let us know what happens. |
