I'm new to the boards, but I hope someone can help me with this:
I've got my service engine soon light on... came on once, with the message "Cam Position Sensor Malfunction" but the truck was running fine, so I reset the light... truck ran all day, didn't come back on... the next morning I start it and 10 seconds later, it's back on. It's been 11 degrees lately, and this is a childish question, but could that cause the sensor to malfunction? The truck is running fine, no hesitation, no odd noises. And I haven't done any work on it in a month or so. Just out of the blue started giving me this light. I hope replacing the sensor is a cheap/easy job if that's what it comes too... anybody have any ideas? edit: my name doens't show the model... 1998 gmc sierra 1500, 5.7 ltr |

Re: Re: Cam Position Sensor Malfunction
Any idea what would get the timing to change 2-4 degrees? Engine hasn't been touched in over a month so not sure why it would just start happening all of a sudden.
