2000 GC Limited transfer case?

I just bought a 2000 WJ with the Quadra-trac II system. I bought it in the summer and i've put about 10000 miles on it, bringing it to 80000 total. I didn't have any problems with it for a while, but then on the way back to college, there was a loud clunking sound coming from right beneath my feet when accelerating between 50 and 70 mph. I'm guessing it's the transfer case. In the snow, the problem has only gotten worse. It seems like the all time 4WD isn't even engaged because i get stuck even when trying to back out of a parking spot. I can gas it and the clunks just repeat. It's gone from an occasional clunk to a constant sputter at random times when accelerating. I just tried 4W low and although i got out, it still made the same noise. Any ideas?

Put into gear and give some gas while holding brake pedal. See if you can make it make the noise. If so you have a worn chain in transfer case slipping.
