cheap light rims.

my friend has a lightly moded 1997 acura integra LS. He is currently running 17 inch rims, but would like to purchase smaller and lighter rims in hope of gaining more acceleration. Which wheels would you guys recommend? Money is a big factor, because he is saving for a turbo set up. He is thinking about rims off of a 1992 Honda Civic.

ps. going from 17's to 15's will considerably enhance acceleration right?

youll handle worse, youll have less area for traction, so if your really moded, youll loose speed because youll sit spinin em before launching.

It is kind of sad when your car needs less tire to go faster... What he could do, is P&P the head and intake... There is no such thing as a cheap light wheel, unless it is stolen.

Just because the rims are lighter doesn't mean he'll spin! He'll have to get used to how to launch the car. When he does, he'll be faster!

As for inexpensive, what price range is "inexpensive"? $150 each? $300 each? Let me know, as I have done much research on this topic!

Thumbs down

DMC12...put on your glasses when you read my posts. Or maby I need to learn english better, but I said smaller-less area for traction, I didnt say anything about weight. Otherwise dragsters would have lil rims made of lead not tubs on them :bandit:

Go here and compare the two tire sizes. It will tell you which one will rotate faster.

If you find FOUR 17" rims for under $250, then e-mail me immediately!!! I want some, too... even though they're probably stolen

UHHH

Why would he handle worse? Why would he have less area for traction?

Going to a smaller rim size, doesnt nessecarily mean the width of the rim or the tires will decrease either.

So if anything it should help him.

And spining them before launching? That makes no sense. He'll spin them while launching. But if he learns how to feather the clutch then he'll be good, or if its auto he'll learn to powerbrake it correctly.

I got my 17s for 350. (400 with shipping). There's nothing wrong with them really. Before I saw them I was gonna go get some stock '01 prelude rims from a junkyard. Those are nice enough but I think their 5-lug so that bitez. Check e-bay for good prices.

'

15x6.5 and 17x8 (example)

the second, will be quite a bit wider, and if you have smaller rims and taller tires you handle worse, because the tire actually begins to fold in on itself. Yes, you can change a few cm of tread area, but not as much as inches. But if he does launch it right he wont have too much wheel spin.

yes i know this, but that would mainly apply if he went back to stock size rims.

i have to assume he wants some sorta aftermarket rim in a 15 inch size, which would most likely be a bit wider than a stock 15.

he could be like me and get 15x8 rims.
