Car starts and idles for 5 sec. then shuts off????
I am getting sick of my 99 gsx. I have hd nothing but problems. It starts up and when its cold it will idle for couple secs. and bog down and shut off. I changed the TPS about month ago. I also changed the crankshaft censor as well. Any ideas. Please help!!!

Could be the IAC motor. Check your airfilter too. Is it dirty?
Just hold rpms at like 2 grand for a minute and let the motor warm up. Make sure heat, lights, and everything else is off.

thanks, I will check the air filter. should i clean it...and how? or just buya new one.

It depends, some filters can be cleaned and reused, some can't. If that is the problem then I would just buy a new one. I would think that if the filter was dirty it would bog and run like shit all the time.

hello i thought i thorw this in here my car dose the same thing starts idles for about 5 secs and shuts off but sometimes it will fire up and run all day but as soon as i shut it off it will go back to start and shut off please help

It sounds like the TPS or the IAC. Had the same problem. I replaced both. The TPS is more than likely the problem tho. Thats about $60. You can find one on ebay for about $30
