Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

I was just wondering why the NSX costs so much and if a VR4/TT would even compete at all in a race. Horsepower wise they are comperable, so what makes the NSX so badass? Its just a3.2L VTEC V6 right? Does it handle that incredible? Why does it cost 90K? Yes, they look nice, but 90K?! you can get a Viper for 80...

Anyways, the reason why i ask, there is a guy who works across the street from where i work who drives a yellow one, and we both get out at 5 every day. I havnt ran him yet, but i get the chance at lease once a week. I just wanna know how bad he's gotta beat my ass when i finally grow some nuts.

its expensive because so much time has gone into it and because its a supercar. and yes it does handle like a god. if its not again the CoC let me know and i will find u a video where they test drive it.

id assume u would probably take him off the line just because ur awd. but he will more than likely pull u because he has u on revs and weight. i belive they run low 13s stock but dont quote me on that

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

Some japanese show had a nsx run against other high-end sports cars, and for the first lap, the nsx was kicking lamborghini ass. Just because it has less horsepower doesn't mean that the car doesn't use it to its full extent. Honda gave it their all when they created the NSX and that is why it costs what it does. It is one of the finest sports cars out there, and not only because it looks good. It has the performance to back it.

well said, and yes even tho the viper is far more powerful and costs about the same the viper will keep up with it lap for lap, though i believe the drag strip is another story. the nsx is a fine example of high-tech engineering

I've squared off against an NSX in both of my VR4s and squeeked out the vicorty each and every time. Off the line I jumped in front and from 50-90 he started to real me in. Then it was like there was a metal bar between us. The gap didn't close any more and it didn't widen. I really expected the reeling to continue.

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

Yeah, but I bet there would be a big difference if you raced an NSX on the track. I can understand the straight line racing though.

my boy Bulldog over in the street forums smoked one in his Cobalt SS. they are great cars and yes they run a hell of a lap time but in a straight line the VR-4 has the advantage of a better launch.

nice then i should be able to take him. My friend has the '06 Supercharged Cobalt and i can take him, though not by a whole lot. He's a better driver though. Those things are quick.

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

It depends on which year NSX you're talking about...the newest ones run 12 second 1/4 miles. The older models go from 13's to low 14's depending on the year.

As far as the price, if you look at the older models...they don't hold their value too well...compare an old Viper to an old NSX of the same year. There's no way in hell I could afford any year Viper in any condition...but I can afford a '91 NSX w/ over 100k. Basically they are overpriced, and because of this their value drops rapidly...but if I could afford the car AND the insurance I would sure as hell buy one.

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

i dont know what the year is, all i know is its a yellow Targa, and it looks mint. Being that he works retail i would guess its no newer than 2000.

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

I'm very speculative that, even supercharged, a stock Cobalt can outrun a stock NSX. With the six-speed transmission, the NSX is rated at 290hp at the rear wheels, mid engined, while the supercharged Cobalt is rated at 205hp from the front wheels. Just some numbers for ya...

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

Well that's the reason he made video's so speculative people can't speculate. Go check them out.

Numbers on paper can mean very little in real world.

Re: Acura NSX.....vs VR-4???

Yes, but I think that if the SS Cobalt was running high 12's, people would have heard about it by now.

Musashi never said the Cobalt was stock... for all u know it could be pulling 600hp (not likely, but u're all assuming it is stock)...
