Monte Carlo Dash to Lumina

Hi all,

New to the forum. I have a '98 Lumina with the 3.1L engine. I want to change my dash with no tach to the dash from the Monte Carlo, with full instrumentation. Is the wiring harness the same allowing for this, or am I in for touble. I know the physical dimensions work.

Thanks in advance & Happy Holidays,
Barry

Re: Monte Carlo Dash to Lumina

First, you'll have to change the sensors from warning light to guage type (they are different) to make the guages work right. Next, make sure you snip the wiring harness to the guages from the donor car (I assume you're getting a junk yard cluster) as the different colored wires can be in different positons on the harness plug between the two different clusters ( I have done this change on a 91 Cavalier, and I had to remove the wires from the connector and reposition them to match the configuration in the car that had guages.

My '97 LS has tach and temp gauges. I guess you are wanting Oil press, volts, etc too?

The instrumentation I have is fuel level, speedo and engine temp. I was wondering if the standard wiring harness accepts either the full instrumentation or the basic gauge display this is on my '98 Lumina.

Thanks again for your responses!
