Hope you can help..any and all help is appreciated!!
Was told I have a cracked heater core last week. added some stop leak type product. problem #1 is when the defroster is on HOT temp and HIGH power, i get a slimy mist on my interior front winshield. i'm assuming it's antifreeze (?) problem #2 is when the Air Conditioning is on max cold, full power, i get a greasy mist/steam coming out of the air conditioning vents. are these two conditions related? if it matters, the level of antifreeze is not changing what can i, personally, do about the problem? plan on junking the car soon, need a temporary quick, inexpensive fix. Thanks so much!!! |

Re: 92 antifreeze mist coming out of vents?!?
Bypass your heater hose. (Hope you don't live in an especially cold area!)
That's the easiest, quickest makeshift repair you can do for a cracked heater core. Your level isn't changing because the core is just seeping...hence the steam. If you don't know how to bypass the heater, all you do is disconnect the hose from the firewall (either hose), completely remove the OTHER hose, and connect the first hose it to the inlet in the engine, so the water will simply travel through the engine. |
