Austin Healy 3000
Just wondering if anyone, during their long and storied model building/collecting lives, have seen a plastic kit of an Austin Healy 3000? How about a 1:24 diecast? My pops used to have one when it was new, but he sold it and he forever laments it, and I wouldn't mind finding one in 1:24 so I can do my part in replacing it.
Are there any kits that are close? I've often been tempted to get the Gunze Bugeye Sprite and modify it into the MG Midget he still has. Anything I can do this sort of work to for the 3000? Thanks folks.

Revell did an Austin Healey 100-6 kit, and it was reissued a few years back (and have been several times). They're not terribly hard to find nor expensive. Multi-piece body, but w/care it builds up quite nice. I don't know all the differences between the 100-6 and a 3000, but if you're capable of conversions this is definitely the only kit out there worth starting with! There are a couple on Ebay right now. I snagged an old builtup w/the original racing parts; roll bar and tonneau cover and smaller windshield that weren't in the later versions.

Re: Austin Healy 3000
Holy crap! Thanks guys! The 100-6 is a V6 while the 3000 is a 4 banger version of a cosmetically (almost) identical car. I should have just searched "Austin Healey" not "Austin Healey 3000" on ebay.
Hooray hooray hooray!!

Re: Austin Healy 3000
That's what I meant. I'm so embarrassed! It should be an easy conversion from I6 to I4. I'm already doing it in my head.

I really can't take net breaks, can I guys?
The Austin Healey 3000 WAS a straight-six, 3.0L straight six to be exact, and was a wholly different model from the earlier 100-6 (the Healey 100 was the four banger model that started the "Big Healey" bloodline). It was bigger, wider, and had a more refined front suspension. For comparison, here's a 100-6. and here is a 3000 MkII (the definitive 3000).

Re: Austin Healy 3000
Crap, I thought I knew what I was talking about. Still, the 100-6 will be super easy to convert into a pretty good model of the 3000.
