Burnt Smell

Well, I'm still somewhat new to the SRT-4's(mine is 05 with about 650 miles) and I have a question. Ever since I installed the ERZ catless downpipe I've started to get this slight burning tire type smell while sitting at idle and slight revving. All the connections are good and tight and also there are no burn marks to show an exhaust leak. I was thinking the flex section on the pipe could be crap but not too sure. Is this what the exhaust on these cars smell like, especially since it's new? Thanks for any help.

Re: Burnt Smell

for a little while you will smell burnt crap. this is all of the oils burning out of the metal. it will go away eventually. you might just want to double check that nothing else is touching the exhuast. my exhuast has been on for about 60,000 miles, and there is no smell, cept maybe for the racegas when i run that stuff. mmmmmmmmm...race gas.

Re: Burnt Smell

You could be just heating up your rubber undercoating but it is just a guess.
