big brakes upgrade for front

after 3k miles of driving on my 22s my front brakes are toast, the rotors look like rings around saturn.what the best and cheapest upgrade so i dont have to replace the brakes all the time.will just an aftermarket rotor and pads work or im i gonna have to shell out 1000+ for a whole front kit?

Try Bear Brakes. Yes you can try a set of rotors and pads first. The key is to reduce the heat you are generating so perhaps a set of slotted drilled rotors with some ceramic pads? Also double check that you have not suffered some kind of failure in the rear brakes system circuit, leaky fluid. Even with the 22's its very strange that you have chewed up your fronts that quik.. I have 33's on 16's that are mush heavier then the 245's it came with and i put them on at 15,000 and have half pad left at 71,000 miles..jj

Re: big brakes upgrade for front

In the '05 SS and VHO's they put the RPO JF7 17" brakes on the front. They came with stock 20's. So what if you think the22's don't weigh as much as you think, putting a mass farther away from the center requires more break to stop the mass. Simple physics. Get a bigger rotor, caliper and set up, you won't regret doing it right. Call the aftermarket brake places, they will tell you the same thing. Ask the tire stores, they will also recommend a larger brake set up. Don't think I am a dick, maybe I am , but you NEED a bigger brake for bigger rims....

Re: big brakes upgrade for front

And be glad you have the drums on the rear. You don't want the repair nightmare i have . I guess that means your brake ware characteristics will be much different then my four wheel disks so disreguard my last post...jj
