headers???

I no every1 here (Luos) in perticualr told me the loudmouth is the worst sounding cat back w/ headers. i thought about it and wanna get headers. Who make really good headers for the LS1? im saving up until the spring and will have around $1000 to play with. so i dont mind buying kooks or slp as long as they sound nice and deliver the hp. so what will be your recomendations??? and does any1 have a short video clip with headers on the loudmouth.

Re: headers???

SLP = bad.
I got rid of mine. Thank god.

I went with Kooks. Although recently I have heard they have had some issues with their welds leaking. Not too sure about this, but I am thinking it is because so many go out. A couple are bound to have issues.

Pacesetters are good for the price.
Jethots as well.
Stainless works have some GREAT pieces. As does QTP.
Let me see if I can find the clip of my car with the headers and loudmouth. I don't like listening to it....WAY too raspy.

Re: headers???

Let me know once you have viewed this.
I can only leave it up for a while. It is eating up my webspace.

Anyways....
SLP headers, SLP hi-flow cats, SLP y-pipe.
Some clips are with the Loudmouth and some are without. Titles on the video tell you which ones are which.

Re: headers???

Looks like Luos got it pretty much covered.

Next question. Do you want stainless steel headers or would coated suffice?

Re: headers???

I'm surprised nobody mentioned hooker long tube style. Thats what I'd go with, least if you're willing to spend the money on them I spose. Pretty much for sure an addition of 35hp from the stock manifolds. Pacesetters are great for the price too though.

Re: headers???

Jethots are coated Hookers.

And you aren't getting 35 HP from headers alone.

Kooks or QTP are known as the cream of the crop headers for the LS1 F-bodies. Both are stainless steel and have excellent reputations. If I was in the market for the best headers I would see which one of these has the best price and place an order.

If you have the loudmouth on the car then just get the headers and decide for yourself if you love it or hate it. If you hate it then you can always replace the resinator with a borla XR-1. Many people have done this and praise the loud but more refined sound.

But what if you don't like that either? Worst case scenario is you still have a used loudmouth and borla XR-1 you can sell. Then the proceeds can go towards another catback like magnaflow or hooker.

Good luck

Pacesetter
Hooker (JetHot)
Kooks
QTP
Stainless Works

Here are the SLP headers in comparison to my new Kooks. Granted, these SLP headers are used.

I am sure you can tell why I would NEVER recommend SLP headers to anyone. They hang really low when installed as well.

Re: headers???

Damn...those Kooks have a sweet build quality.

like it was mentioned already, find the better deal between QTP and kooks. You won't be dissappointed with either header.

And your car will sound sick with LTs and magnaflow.
