'90 ltd lx - wont start after sitting overnight

i recently picked up a '90 crown victoria and for the first few days it sat around while i dealt with putting it on the road and in that time it was started once evry few days and showed no signs of trouble. a new starter, windshieldwipermotor, and new battery were all put in. the first day it happened i was fairly certain that i had not left any interior lights/accessories etc. but am positive that nothing was left on each time it continued happening. when jumped it responds immediately and starts up and will run. even after the car is shut off for a short amount of time it will start up without a problem. it seems to only be happening when left for a night. any suggestions would be well appreciated -

It sounds like you have a short some where in the wiring system.

Either the alternator isn't putting out enough to recharge the battery or their is a drain you are not seeing. Have the alt. checked for free at autozone, advance or other parts house.
Pull different fuses and see if you eliminate the problem.

You may want to look for what I found a few times. Check that the glove box light is going off when closed, and if you have a trunk light check for the same. I had a problem with the glove box light one time and couldn't find what was killing the battery, untill I noticed that the dash was warm around the glove box. The light wasn't turning off when closed.

A bad voltage regulator can drain the battery.

Also check the positive battery cable for corrosion; on my Vic the entire electrical system acted funny, and it sometimes wouldn't start. Once I replaced the cable (it had corrosion/dust all inside, near the battery) all was well.

When it doesn't start, put a voltmeter on the BATTERY POSTS, NOT the cables at the posts. If you have 12 volts, turn the key to start engine and see if there is a drain on the voltage. If not, check the + and - cables. The - cable seems to go more than the + cables. Good luck.
