Smile Paint code

I'm the happy owner of a vw golf '97 1600 AFT.The info plate that should be mounted in the front part of the enginebay is missing and I need the paint code to do a paint job.Any help to where and howto find the code will begreatly apr .

Hi there i found my paint code under my boot lining,on a piece of paper it start with a L , i have a 94 mk3 1.4,my brother just sprayed my car and it looks great(he owns a bodyshop)Are you sure its not the VIN plate that is missing?.

Hey , thanks for the tip-of , it was right their under my nose. If it was a snake it would have bit me.The paper sticker little bit faded but readeble.Don't know why VW just rivit a mettal plate with the info on to the frame like the old microbusses.

I'll do the same colour.Just on the hood and roof.I like the colour .Colour code is LC6P,Metalic green with a clear cout.For some reason the clear cout is pealing of.(Only on the hood and roof). Man at the shop says have to take everything of to the metal and re-do.$200 for the job.Why is the clear cout comming of.Is it because of the sun ? or bad paint job from the factory from the beginning ?

im not to sure on that one ot could be a couple of things,but i dont think the clear should come off unless someone before you has had the car and sprayed it themself.ill give my brother a ring and let you know what he thinks.
