1989 4x4 shift on the fly?

Hey

I didnt some searching and could not find the answer that I was looking for. I have an 89 Blazer 4.3 4x4 Tahoe, and I was just wondering if I can go from 2HI to 4HI without stopping, and also vice versa. Like, say I was going from 40 MPH in 4HI to get on the freeway and wanted to shift it to 2HI. Would I have to stop to make that change? Or can I just push the lever back to 2HI while moving? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BTW, it's a manual shifter for the transfer case, and I believe the tranny is the 4L60.

Nate
