climate control blend door noise

reposted with perhaps a more accurate subject heading:

I know that many have hade major heater issues with the blend door............

I notice that when I switch my front temperature control from hot to cool that there is a delay that seems longer than I remember but there is also a strange mechanical noise that I think may be the blend door not sliding freely.

I wonder if someone with experience in the blend door may have an opinion as to whether this is the beginings of a major problem and if so is there something I might be able to do before the problem becomes a complete failure. I was thinking of perhaps lubricating the slider or something.

Thanks.

Re: climate control blend door noise

Well I took my own advice and searched under "blend door" and found oodles of information. I have been coming here so long and I never knew there were this many "blend door" posts. I suppose I skipped over them because I never had the problem and I didn't know much about it.

In any event it looks like my actuator is starting to skip gears.

I wonder why they would use an electric actuator when I would think a simple linkage to the slider would work just as well. Perhaps the actuator has a thermostat.

In any event I shall leave it in the hot position (should be good for a Toronto winter) and worry about it in the spring.
