7mgte

I have a 87 supra turbo, and it has 122,000 miles on it and the head gasket has been replaced with a metal one. But i was wondering how long do these motors last befor they lose power or when you have to rebuild them?

Re: 7mgte

You will get at least another 100,000 out of it as long as you take care of it.

Re: 7mgte

My engine needed its first rebuild at 260,000. All it really needs though is a new valve. It was running on all the original parts, other than the little things that need to be changed so often.

Re: 7mgte

Nah, 260,000 on an N/A. The turbos should last to around 180,000 from what Ive heard. You should look into getting a 93+ celica CT-26. Ive heard theyre made in a slightly different way that makes them a little better.

Re: 7mgte

Leave those ceramic units alone. Spend your money on an aftermarket unit, and do some homework before buying anything.

Re: 7mgte

Just suggesting the Celicas CT-26 as a cheap alternative to a good thing lol. Not like we can all afford some nice garretts : ) .I remember hearing from a friend that has a celica. Toyota changed something to make them a little more durable.
