Re: it's a 4x4, but what kind?
I may be wrong, so hopefully someone will corectme. I am pretty sure the rear axle on the 99 Rodeo is a Dana44. I am not sure what the gearing is. The front is an Isuzu 10 bolt, I think.

Re: it's a 4x4, but what kind?
The Rodeo's were not built with Dana 35's in any of the model years.
I believe some earlier years, I could be wrong, had the GM 10-bolt in the rear; not sure what's in the front. Some later years, including my '97 Rodeo, came with a rear Dana 44. I don't have a front axle, 4x2, so I couldn't tell ya. And I'll be darned if I can remember what was on my '91 Rodeo 4x4.

Re: it's a 4x4, but what kind?
dana 44's are pretty tough axles, and a gm 10 bolt is probably actually stronger then a dana 35...

Re: it's a 4x4, but what kind?
I thought the front axle was a dana 35-IFS. I have a 99 rodeo (same as passport) and my rear axle is dana 44 with 4.30 gears and limited slip. I'm not sure what other gears were offered with the 99.
You can tell if you have limited slip by looking for the code G80 on the option plate of the firewall in the engine compartment. There will also be an orange tag on one of the cover bolts for the rear diff that says "use only gear oil for limited slip" and there should also be a silver tag on another bolt there that says what gears are in it. Thats if they havent been lost or broken off.

Re: it's a 4x4, but what kind?
yup, i saw both of those tags... i wondered what they were for. odd place to put a reminder.
i thought somthing had broken off, but i saw the wording on one tag, realized it was suppose to be like that.
