Help! Back Brakes 99 jimmy

I just replace my back brake pads and drove down the street and when I applied the brakes it was as though the stuck half way on...the pedal seems fine but the truck slowed to a stop and smoke was coming from the driver side rear tire...what could it be? I just changed the pads...thats all! Yikes if anyone knows what it could be please help. Thanks in advance

Ok this is what you did...when you squeezed the piston back you did not bleed down the brakes...open the bleeder and let the pressure off thereby allowing the piston to move...also the piston was stuck. Remove the brake line and free the piston...replace the brakes, bleed them down starting with the tire farthest away from the master cylinder. All should be fine...and it is...

I had this same problem last year, and it turned out to be a frozen caliper. These are made of aluminum, and the piston can get stuck due to corrosion. The problem is uncovered when you replace the pads and retract the piston; the corrosion makes for an interference fit. My advice - buy a new caliper. They cost around $50.

Yep...had to replace both calipers both rotors and pads...total do it yourself cosat was 147.00 after core return..Thanks for your help

another note, if your flex line starts to wear from age it will expand under breaking pressure and cause this as well, when every you change breaks it is best to open the resevior under the hood so as you compress the calipers the pressure doesnt build, then when done, pump the breaks a bit and fill...repeat until back to line, then test drive.
