1993 Lumina Z34 Crank Sensor

Help Please! Am very frustrated. Had my 93 Lumina Z34 3.4 diagnosed with a code 42. Told to buy a crank sensor which I did but no one can tell me where to find it under the hood to replace. Is there somewhere where I can find a diagram or someone who can explain where to find it? Thanks!

Re: 1993 Lumina Z34 Crank Sensor

Your crank sensor is between the engine block and the firewall - best way to access it is from under the car.

Get ready for a good fight - its only held in by one bolt, but the crank sensor is plastic and becomes brittle over time, and if you are not careful, the piece inside the block will break off while you're trying to pull the whole thing out.

Thank you! I took the car to a garage and they installed the part I supplied for $130. Anyway, I replaced brakes after. Drove the car 20 miles to work fine. Warmed the car up for about 15 minutes after work to drive home and got 5 miles down the road and the car died. Battery turns over fine but doesn't seem to catch. When I was testing it before I got codes 23, 32, and 42. Not I can't seem to get any codes. Anybody have an idea!!!!

Just Maybe..........

I say the connector fell off your newly installed sensor- not connected good after replacement.
