'01 headlite replacement

Hi-
My 2001 passenger side head light needs replacing, but the manual directions don't seem to match what's under the hood. There is a metal bracket attached by two screw-type pieces on each end; so it appears I have to unscrew those before I can unclip the two clips and lift the head light assembly out. Can anyone guide me...is this something I can do my self or do I need to go to a professional?

J.

I have a 2002 so it is probably similar. There is a piece on top of the lights that you remove. It has plastic pins in it. When you get that off you have to pull the two metal pins/tabs up to get the light assembly off.

The plastic pins I pried up with a screw driver. I think the plastic pins expand when they are drive in.

The metal pins/tabs I pulled up and used a screwdriver to force them a little.

Be VERY careful when you remove and replace the plastic ring around the bulb. I broke mine and I think it was about $10.00 at the Pontiac dealership to replace. The local parts places did not have it. It has real small plastic wing type things in it that break easily.
