Goverment Chip???

HI,

as l told u guys, l raced with a lexus and get my ass kicked, because my car wasnt going more then 115 mph. wel l thought maybe l get it fixed, but no!!!!!! still like that..

yesterday l changed my exhaust system. l added, new flow master exhaust system. and that time l asked those mechanics. that l couldnt go more than 115, my car started to jump on 115 mph. and they said that it is the law in the USA. It is goverment chip. whicehever car you see on the street, they cant go more then 115 unless the change the chip. that chip connected to computer and fuel in jector or something he said. and l said how can l change my chip he said chips are like 800 bucks. that time you can go as fast as you can and also that chip increases the power.

so how about ur birds guys??

also is that true??

thank you.

I'd say thats a bunch of crap they are telling you. The only time cars are limited for speed is if they aren't sold with decent tires, thus making it a safety hazard. Some fast european cars are limited to certain speeds when sold here as well. It is possible that your car has been set to a maximum speed, but that sounds awful low. Anyway, if that is the issue, you can still program your computer to increase the top speed with a Hypertech programmer. They are $2-$3 hundred bucks new. I recommend finding new mechanics. Those guys don't know what they are talking about.

They know what they are talking about, they are just off on the price. You can reprogram the computer for about 300-400 dollars. There is no chip though, the computer has to be "flashed", which is to say, erased and rewritten basically. My '94 Trans-Am was limited at about 115 mph, so it doesn't sound that far fetched. Other Trans-Ams of the same year were limited at 150 mph...Im not real sure what the deal is or why they differ, but they occasionally do.

Re: Goverment Chip???

It is a governor, not government. Mine can go 155 MPH before the governor kicks in. Not government regulated, just a safety issue depending on the stock tires limits.

Yes, your car is limited to 115 MPH. Or something near that.
You would need that deleted from your computer. Not sure what works with the LT1 cars to do that.

The LT1s have 2 options...you can buy a reprogrammer or go to a shop that has them and will program your LT1 for you or you can buy a program for your laptop and a pigtail that fits the OBD port and do it yourself.

i hit 135 with no mods on my 94 lt1. Its a GT, all of which came fully loaded and had z rated tires. So, yeah...to beat a dead horse...115 limit=crappy factory tires.

Re: Goverment Chip???

man, it was like 02:00 a.m. in the morning and l was going to florida, highway was empty,l was going like 115 and l was feeling like 60-70. my car was that much relax. my car would definetly go more than 150 easily, l can tell buy driving it. when it comes to 115, my car starts to jump like braking and accelrating.. and engine screams and stops, screams and stops.. car wants to go faster but something stops it. anyway.. where can l get this fixed? l cant do that by myself..
the only think is making me mad is, that lexus driver probably told his all buddies that he killed a formula..

man, we were like 100 mph, l floored it and he did too but my car jump away away... and stopped 115 mph and then he passed me.. and he thinks that he killed me.

anyway..

thank u guys..

once again doodad.....buy a programer or take it to a reputable dealer or shop and ask them to reset the computer so it can over 115

The car will barely be able to push 110. And if you do try to go that fast you will be pushin the rpm's up to the red line.
