anybody know which company makes the best plastic models, and which make the best diecast......thank you people...

What type of subjects do you prefer.

Japanese subjects: Aoshima, Fujimi, Tamiya
American Subjects: Revell, AMT

Nascar subjects: Revell
WRC subjects: Tamiya, Hasegawa
F1 Subjects: Tamiya
Motorcycles: Tamiya
Touring cars: Tamiya, Hasegawa

Tamiya if you can afford it...good fitting not much to mess with. EDIT: They make kits in a way that even a begginer can get the hang of it right away.
there was a thread a week or two about this but I can't seem to find it right now..
If I remember correctly Revell came in 2nd (never made anything except Tamiya's and Italeri)
As for diecast.. dunno.. absolutely no exp with diecast...

PS. Welcome to AF
PPS. You might wanna change ur subject in the future to more suitable titles EG: which are the best model manifactures? Treat the people as they're real life friends rather then people you can just get info from and you will learn A LOOOOOOOOOOOOT.. lol
