brake knock
2001 Ford Taurus - Recently replaced rear brake shoes, including hardware, turned drums and bled lines to rear brakes. Now I have a knock when braking. As I decellerate the frequency of the knock accellerates.
Looking for ideas. |

Have you noticed if your ABS light comes on at the same time? -Rod |

Re: brake knock
No the ABS does not come on and yes it is a hard metalic knock and it stops when the vehicle stops.

Re: brake knock
Check the brake shoes to make sure nothing has come loose. Make sure the brake shoes are properly seated and adjusted.

Re: brake knock
Did you make sure the shorter pad is towards the front of the car and the longer pad towards the rear on both sides?
It's been a long time since I've done drum brakes, do they still use two different lengths of friction material? -Rod |
