cadillac whack

I was driving home this afternoon, and some rich <insert swear here> lady in a 2001 caddie rear ends my 85 caprice! tries to tell me it was my fault. my bumpers pushed in, and my drivers side quarter panel is bent in some. all body, as far as i can tell now. still drives and everything. hers wouldnt even move after. serves her right. my baby might not look the prettiest, but i love her, and it broke my heart. stupid caddie <insert adjective>!!!!

Re: cadillac whack

See, people driving these old beasts (ie: Caprice's) have the advatage in an accident nowadays. New cars are now built with sheet metal unibodies, fiberglass, and plastic... whereas mid-80's cars lyk the Caprice are built with a steel chassis, and steel bumpers with real chrome. They're as many people call my car "a tank" compared to modern cars. Gotta love em!

Just sharing some of my own personal experience here. I love the steel body of my several tanks by now. Unfortunately, every accident I get involved in seems to make the insurance want to total my car (just because the blue book value is soo low for something that old).

I got hit by a Hyundai while driving my '82 wagon back in 1990. It broke part of the grill, bent the front bumper, popped the wood grain trim. My fix was $1.29 for a directional signal bulk, sheet metal screwed the trim back on.

His insurance wrote me a check for $1850, ka-ching!

my friend had his 85 "woody wagon" smacked by an '02 toyota celica, his wagon had to get the bumper straightened and the rear glass replaced. the celica was written off. Total bill was 15 bucks for the bumper from a pull a part yard and 180 for the glass installed. The glazier (glass technician) said there was a flaw in the rear glass, that is why it broke.

Re: cadillac whack

Nice... I love how these old beasts just drive away from accidents while the opposing vehicle gets totaled.
