1.8 engine with oil leak.need some help

i notice some oil on the ground.so i jack up the car slide under the car and noticed oil to be leaking from a retangular plastic cover or door. i open it and i see the flywheel.could the oil pan gasket leak inside this plastic cover. or is the leak from something else.

If you could see the flywheel then it's probably the rear main seal leaking or the input shaft seal on the transmission.

Can't quite follow you since I have the 1.9L. but it sounds like you are talking about an inspection plate on the flywheel cover. There should not be oil in the same compartment as the flywheel.
