Angry Serious Exhaust Issues

Hey all, this past August I hooked up with a friend who was to install a Borla exhaust in my 04'. Didn't go as we planned though. After FIVE different models from Borla we stopped trying because I needed to move away to college. I have a drivers side exiting exhaust and right after the cats the pipe is very small. It forms a very odd Y right before the muffler. This was our problem the whole time, none of the exhausts fit it correctly implementing this Y. The last exhaust we tried was the right thing, except it was opposite of what we needed. Instead of drivers side, it was setup for passenger side exit.

Was I sold a funky Xterra!!???!! haha thanks for all the help!!

Re: Serious Exhaust Issues

Not sure I understand this post but I've seen many Xterra's with modified exhaust and not having any problems..Myself being one of them..

yea the Exhaust is hard to understand without a picture to explain it...what type of exhaust did you put on your Xterra?

I have a Flowmaster 50 series single in/dual out with the pipes going out to the rear..You can see the rear exit in this pic.

Re: Serious Exhaust Issues

Oh and to add. When we was fabbing up the exhaust we noticed there is more than enough room to run true duals on our trucks..With pipping coming from the manifolds to dual mufflers out to the rear..

One of our clubmembers ran his dual out through the rear bumper. It's pretty slick looking and resolves departure angle issues. Plus he has a rear winch that comes out from the license plate location. The plate is on hinges.
