Re: one bad camaro
i wouldnt spend the xtra $ for an ls6. Just beef up the ls1. u can get tons of aftermarket parts for both engines. if i were u i wood save the $ and buy a really nice supercharger. then again thats me. ask in the camaro section.

Re: one bad camaro
if the engines in good condition the supercharger should give you choke power..but if its all worn out it might cause ur engine to die faster...just a heads up. if you wanna do a full overhaul..hell you can get 600..a lot cheaper than buying the LS6..maybe not as pretty..but cheaper

Re: one bad camaro
The LS6 is basicly an LS1 with better heads and a slightly larger cam.
That said....you want 600 horse?? Do you have a HUGE pocketbook?

Re: Re: one bad camaro
How big is $12000 can I make close to 600hp with that amount or even cheaper. Plus can I use nitrous if I have a supercharger it will only be used at the drag strip. and if so how big of a shot will 150 be okay. I'm going to mod the Ls1, first step swith the heads and cams with more agressive ones. Should I beef up the internals or are they strong enoug to handle 500plus horsepower. Any suggestions will help.

Re: one bad camaro
once u get over the 500 hp mark ur gonna need better internals that comes stock on the ls1(correct me if im wrong luos). plus i dont think 12000 is gonna cut it if that includes buying the car. Nothing is cheap any more good set of headers can run 1 grand and heads another grand exhaust isnt cheap either. another words youll eat up that 12 grand fast.

Re: one bad camaro
I just spent about that in mods alone and plan on hitting 500 RWHP (575 crank).
Now, I am not using any boost or nitrous, so my build is more expensive. The stock LS1 bottom end can handle 600 RWHP for a limited time. Takes a VERY good tune though. Cam, 150 shot, all the bolt-ons, great tune. Should be right around 600 crank power.

I know a guy running a 50 shot, 5 PSI from a supercharger, and he is cammed. He has a new block with forged internals waiting for this stock LS1 to blow up.

Do you plan on building this engine yourself (or managing the build) or do you plan on sending your engine somewhere and signing the check at the end?
If you plan on any building involvement, I reccomend you do some reading to familiarize yourself with the engine a little more. books like: HP Book CHEVY LS1 / LS6 Engine Performance HP1407 How To Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s: Modifying & Tuning Gen III GM Engines ISBN: 1884089844 may be of help. Also- what do you plan on doing with this engine? street/ strip/ autocross? daily driver? Don't forget, power isn't everything- what good is power if you don't have traction or proper gearing to utilize it? not to mention with 600 hp you're going to need to spend money elsewhere to support that kind of power. stock transmissions won't hold up for long, and neither will your 7.625" rear end found under a 4th gen F-body. your driveshaft likely won't take abuse from a 600 hp motor either. Frame ties will be a must, also. Just a few things to think about

[/quote]Dammit cars are like women once you buy them one thing to make them happy you have to keep spending your money until your broke. But seriosly Im thinking not to supercharge it on RapidMotorsports.com they claimed to make 546rearwheel horsepower with no forced induction so I can probably get about 480hp to the wheel without forced induction. Oh Im way ahead of you on the traction I plan on getting some 4.10 gears and some differentials, a aluminum driveshaft may also be in the works to. What kind of tires do you guys reccomend to run 11s other than slicks |
