Exact location: buy stethoscope to pinpoint source, possibly under 10$. For me a screwdriver has been enough: place end on suspect parts, ear on handle... listen.

If belt is loose, it will cause noise. Theres also spray cans for no slip belts (which may reduce belt noise).

Hmm. either be content with the noise or swap pump... on-line its impossible to hear. Your guess is as good as mine; still I'd think the rack would make the noise if it was the problem source. Was the replacement pump new or used? If it was new, there should be warranty still valid???

I suppose Nissan uses the same 'pumpfactory' products as 'any other' car manufacturer. Car 'factories' are just parts assembly lines. There is no quarantee that parts with Nissan -logo are more 'original' as the very same parts from same sparepartsfactory sold without the logo... ...one thing is sure: theyre triple price.

Re: Re: Re: power steering noise

replaced pump with reman. guess its possible to get a bad job. did some adjusting today. seems to get better after warm up. sounds like air is getting in to the system. comes back after shut down and few minute wait.

As alternator and starter remans typically fail within one yr, why not pumps... its so easy to ruin seals/bearings with sloppy repair job. And who cares?
