boosted l98
could an l98 take about 6 or 7 pounds of boost and still be reliable?

Re: boosted l98
u mean like blowing head gaskets and burning valves? It will be if you get a super thick quality gaskets for it ($600 each), similar to what 600hp civics use. Defenatly you need a healthy motor, rebuilt head, good head gaskets, a remote turbo, 5-6 psi and you will be nice and reliable (very common on mustangs)
I say go for it. I would get some used garett turbo and maybe rebuild it and than just weld all pipes in a shop with no cats and mufflers. Should be pretty cheap. |

6psi of boost is very much managable in a stock l98... i forget what show it was but they put a centrifical supercharger on an l98, and it was pushin out about 6psi or so, and handled it fine...

Re: boosted l98
cool. I just picked up a paxton supercharger kit. Its supposed to make about 5-7 lbs. of boost so thats why I ask. Should be pretty cool.

Re: boosted l98
i like the remote type bcause its a lot easier. No pulleys and belt, no mounting plate, no inter -cooler, less heat, less exhaust.

Re: boosted l98
Its an sn-93 kit for 88-92 camaros that im getting from a guy selling it on thirdgen.org. Hes going to a BBC setup and doesnt need it anymore. Hopefully the deal goes through just fine and I will be ready to go in a few weeks.
I was looking at those remote types. Looks cool. Id like to see one in a car.
