97 Transport with electrical issues
I'm posting this for a family member. 97 transport, first of all the radio didn't work for the longest time. No big deal. Then, tried plugging something in the cig. lighter, nothing. Then they drive it, park it for the night. Come out next morning and the dome light was left on, dead battery. He charges it for about an hour and then starts it. Drives it, but is getting some kind of noise from under the dash area. Takes it home, and is getting a burning smell. Turns it off, but the lights stay on and stuff. woudn't shut off. Had to disconnect the battery to turn everything off. Any ideas?
I am no where near the van to look for myself. Someone else is looking at it and says it may be the electrical harness. I only got a brief amount of info today, so i'll know more tomorrow. So i apologize for the minimum amount of info. Does this sound like a new harness is needed? could it just be a bad ground? bad body control module? Any help would be appreciated. I will try to get more info tomorrow, maybe easier to pinpoint. Thanks in advance. |

Re: 97 Transport with electrical issues
First PAy attention to all switches that are involved in this light circuit.
THis is what I found after dismantling the dash of my son's INtrepid last year after erratic light, smells and fuses popping incidents http://geocities.com/lmp4203/intrepid/DSCN2469s.JPG ; errors in routing at assembly do happen and take some time to reveal. Two wires may have been pinched together .

update
Sorry for not getting back sooner. Figured i'd update yas all. Turns out, it was the remote start module acting up, causing the lights to stay on and stuff. I didn't know it had a remote start. Thanks.
