crank no start

Hello everyone.
I got a 95 thunderbird.
It cranks but no start. Im getting spark to the plugs and coil.
Im getting 40ish psi for the fuel pressure.
Im getting good compresion on all cylinders.

What else should i check for?
Anyone know of a common problem causing no start?

Thanks in advance

Make sure the injectors are getting their pulses, you can hook a noid light up to see.

Re: crank no start

Just always remember that there are 4 basic ingredients to make an explosion in the cylinder. Fuel, air, compression, and spark. Obviously there are many sub-catagories but those are the basics so if you dont have one of those IN the cylinder then that would be your problem

p.s. - timing is pretty vital but that sorta falls under compression

IT COULD BE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
DOES IT START AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES?

Re: crank no start

is it a 4.6L or a 3.8L? if its the 3.8 the timing could be WAY off and it wont fire at all. It happened to my cousin. if its a 4.6 I dont know cause there is no cap and rotor in that. Although it oculd still be the crankshaft position sensor if it is a 4.6 becuase that is basically the equivient of a distributor in the 3.8. (from what I understand)

if your getting spark your ckp(crank position sensor) is working correctly because ckp sends a pulse signal to pcm which also fires the coils and fuel injectors. i would guess without seeing the car a bad vacuum leak-maybe manifold, airtube from maf to throttle body, brake booster going bad--something along that line

I also have a 1997 3.8 that will not start. Spray some fuel into the intake and see if it fires only do this a couple of times as you could burn out your injectors. this should narrow it down a bit

Well, i changed the spark plugs, wires and converters, car starts fine now
I think the converters were clogged

Cool Re: crank no start

Hello. I have found that it is sometimes the simplest answers that we don't see. I am not being facetious when I say does it have gas in it? If it does, then somewhere along the line, it is being interrupted. When cars don't start it is one of two basic things--either no spark, or no fuel. If it clicks, then check the connection of the battery posts and terminals. If it cranks but gets weaker and weaker, it is the battery or altenator or both. If it cranks but won't catch, there is no fuel. I hope this helps. Also, does it start with starting fluid (sprayed into the carb, if you have one) Good luck.

Schellie
