Rust

I have a 94 2500. This vehicle has spent the majority of its life back east and is now in Colorado. There is a fair amount of rust underneath (transmission coolant lines recently ruptured because they had rusted through), including the frame, but not so much the body. How concerned should I be about frame rust? What measures should/could I take at this point?

Let me add that the torsion bars and driveshafts have substantial rust.

Anyone home?

Re: Rust

the rust is from the salted roads. mine is rusted like yours. most important is to halt the rust. have the underside rust treated. the salt remains there now and every time it gets wet it keeps rusting. ***make sure your brake lines are in good condition. they will rust through. my suburban is up on the ramps right now getting the brake lines replaced after I found one of them weaping where they were rusted.

Thanks, I believe the brake lines are still decent, but I did lose the trans cooler lines (which were essentially 5/16" brake lines) to just what you described.
