99 grand am coolant leak

my daughters car has a coolant leak in her 99 grand am. its between the fire wall and engine lower than she can see. does anyone know whats down there. i have to send her to a shop and i dont them telling her its a head gasket or something like that.

Put some in,and check the overflow valve thing.I put too much in, and a lot drained out more towards the firewall/rear of engine bay.

i have a 99 ga too, and i too seem to have a coolant leak, but all the levels are fine, and i havn't added any and now the low coolant light wont go off, i do wonder why it's doing this

intake gaskets. Search the links on the fourm and you will find what your looking for. Somebody posted a step by step on how to fix this. Just had to fix mine.

Send GTP Dad a private message and ask him. It was GTP Dad or GM Merlin that had that.

Hey 99 Grand AM
Pull your coolant tank out and clean it. you probaly got a bunch of gunk on the sending unit for the light.

The problem.....Water Pump Seal is leaking!!!

The water pump on the Grand Am with the quad four is on the back of the engine below the exhaust manifold. I have a '99 and I just changed mine two weeks ago! It is a big job as you have to take the front of the motor apart because the timing chain runs the water pump.
