Did you adjust the new TV Cable? How long did you drive it with the broken one?

Re: 90 Burb will not shift past 2nd

I only drive it home about 12 miles and keep the speed down to about 50mph. I did like the instuctions said to adjust it and its still not working right. It shifts good for 1st into 2nd. but its like you are in Neutral it only spins it sounds like.

Thanks in advance

When you adjusted the TV Cable, did you hear it click as you opened the throttle full open by hand?

Assuming, the TV cable is adjusted properly, if it feels like it is going into neutral when it should be shifting into 3rd, the 3-4 clutch pack could be worn out. If the cable was out of adjustment before it broke, that could explain the 3-4 clutch pack wearing out.

I have the factory manuals for 90 at home. I will take a look at the manual later tonight and post the diags for no shift into 3rd.

Yes, and the old one was set by the guy that rebuilt the tranny just 2 years ago and it only had 45K on the rebuild.

Thanks for the info and any thing else as this is going to be something I have to get done quickly.

thanks

Re: 90 Burb will not shift past 2nd

Looking at the factory manual, one of the conditions that can cause "No 2-3 Shift or 2-3 Shift Slippling" is a stuck TV or TV limit valve. I wonder if when the TV Cable broke, the TV valve became stuck. Or it being stuck cause the old cable to break.

Other things to check are:

- Governor
- 2-4 Servo

If 3rd and 4th was working before the cable snapped, my money is on the TV valve being stuck.

Good luck.
