Unhappy gas smell, poor gas milage

hello i have read alot of the threads already on this, but my blazer is a 1998 lt.

I smell gas at times, i have now watched my gas milage suffer to about 70 - 100 miles less a tank in the last week. it really got bad now. its cold out now in ohio and i noticed it change to worse then.

i am confued about the egr vavle idea. and assume i dont have a nut kit or a cpi.

i have put new plugs wires, fuel filter, air filter.

also just to make sure whats the wiring sequence i am sure it is fine, but just to make sure.

with this gas thing it seems i have less power.

buying a new house this week so i cant waste money on wrong problems...

ill check my oil level again and see if it smells of gas but i dont think it did.

thanks todd

Re: gas smell, poor gas milage

Your fuel pressure regulator could be leaking badly.

I would suggest you get this to a shop fast before something bad happens and a fire comes about.

Yes, you can, I would suggest you going and grabbing a chilton's repair manual to check it.

Also, check your fuel pressure, should be 61-66psi with the key on and the engine off.

I beleive 96 and above use CSEFI. That means your fuel pressure regulator is under the intake plenum on the fuel meter body. You'll have to pull your plenum to check it. With the plenum off, you'll be able to see the condition of the injectors and poppet nozzles.

BlazerLT's right - BUY THAT Chilton's !!

isn't your firing sequence is on a sticker under the hood.
