Starting problems related to clutch?
The clutch on my 92 Corolla DX has been slipping for about a year now. Finances simply haven't allowed the repair yet, and only driving 200-300 miles per month, I've simply been trying to "get by". Now as I've finally been able to schedule repair on the 19th, another problem has popped up. I think it may be related to the clutch, but not sure. After the car sits for a long period of time, I depress the clutch but the car won't crank, just clicks like the starter had gone out. But if you push the clutch in, release it, and repeat several times, it will start right up. Thing is, day by day the problem is getting worse. Now once the car is warmed up, and you shut it off, it will start right back up with no problems. I mean I've seen starters that will go out gradually, but I'm thinking most likely that the clutch may be having trouble disengaging when cold.
Any thoughts on this? Thnx in advance. |

Re: Starting problems related to clutch?
Sounds like a neutral start switch problem. If it were the clutch sticking, the car would jump forward when you tried to start the car, like it were in gear.

I do know for certain now it's weather related. This is the first day in over a week where temps have been above freezing ( 48* right now ). I went out a while ago, and without even pumping the clutch, my car started up just fine. I had the biggest prob Thur night of this week, when we had a low of 8*. |

Have them replace the neutral clutch switch when you have the clutch work done.
